SOUTHERN SHRIKE
EDMUND D. LEWANDOWSKI CLASSROOM GALLERY

Southern Shrike, works by Mars Simpson & Samuel Pach

EXHIBITION

June 22 - July 25, 2026

RECEPTION

Thursday, July 16 | 5:30 - 7:30 PM

Southern Shrike features contemporary art works from the creative biosphere of Rock Hill, SC. Seeking to captivate the viewer with expressions of time, change, and distant chatter of the

mind and body, Southern Shrike fills the room with its captivating and brash cry. Each piece of work acts as a testament to the current artistic body of the Carolinas, and inside of each plastered leaf, stroke of cadmium red, or dilapidated article pinned to a tattered canvas, a new experience of the creative south is brought to life. The Southern Shrike aims not to just activate the ears with its ripe and piercing call, but to alert the creative minds of those who hear it that there is art that is alive and waking.
