Originally from El Paso, Texas, pianist Matthew Manwarren has established a notable career as performer and artist teacher. Since 2006, he has served as Professor of Piano at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC. His latest recording focuses on composer and Winthrop University Professor of Composition/Theory Dr. Leonard Mark Lewis’s works including Three Etudes for Piano (2007), Tango Triste (2012), and a set of four piano pieces entitled Homage to Brahms (2018) and Toccata (2012). The recording took place at Sounds Like Joe Studios, LLC in April over a 5-day period. When production is complete, the recordings will be marketed to record labels for commercial distribution. This Small Grant will be used for production and administrative costs, and the rental of a Steinway piano.
