“I am driven to capture the essence of what may otherwise be overlooked, trying to catch the beauty
in the simple, perfect things. I am looking with a sense of wonder, curiosity, humor and - awe.”
Katrin Paschakarnis Breitkreutz is a German-American artist, and her work is shaped by her life on
two continents. “Growing up in pastoral, rural communities in Germany, I loved nothing more than
hiking or the long trail rides with my sisters. During my year of study abroad in the United States, I
met the love of my life, and we made our life in the Carolinas, raising our three children and an array
of pets.”
Art has always been a deep love and passion. Primarily self-taught, she has been learning new media
and enhancing her skills through workshops and classes offered by working artists. She works in a
variety of media.
