The winners of the Arts Council of York County’s 10th Annual Photography and 5th Annual Youth Photography Competitions were announced and presented Thursday, June 19th at a public reception at the Center for the Arts in Rock Hill.
Byron Baldwin, a professional photographer and photography instructor, and founding member of The Light Factory in Charlotte, NC, selected 35 works out of 68 entries from 7 cities and 2 states to be displayed in the Photography Competition exhibit in the Dalton Gallery at the Center for the Arts. The winners of the 10th Annual Photography Competition are:
1st Place: Christopher Street Station by Steve Moore
2nd Place: Caleb by Lauren Copley
3rd Place: Abandoned by Peter Krenn
Honorable Mention: Lonely Diners by Mark Stewart
Baldwin also selected 70 photos to be displayed in the Youth Photography exhibit in the Lewandowski Classroom Gallery at the Center for the Arts. The awards in the 5th Annual Youth Photography Competition have been generously sponsored by Alf Ward, with an additional merit award presented to the first place winner donated by Marcia Kort Buike. The recipients of the 5th Annual Youth Photography Competition are:
1st Place: Going Home by Caleb Flachman
2nd Place: So Far Away… by Victoria Shackelford
3rd Place: Contact by Sally Frost
Honorable Mention: Let the Bedbugs Bite by Sean Breitkreutz
Honorable Mention: Alleyway by Nathan Flachman
Honorable Mention: Kickin’ It Old School by Victoria Shackelford
Both exhibits will run from June 19 - July 27, 2014 at the Center for the Arts, 121 E. Main St, Rock Hill. Gallery hours are Monday-Thursday, 9am-6pm; Friday, 9am-5pm; 2nd & 4th Saturday, 10am-2pm; and 2nd & 4th Sunday from 2pm-4pm.
