Gents, don your favorite bow tie and cufflinks. Ladies, get all dolled up in your feathers and pearls. It’s time to step out, Prohibition style! The Arts Council of York County is hosting a Prohibition Party in high style on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at the Courtroom at the Gettys Art Center, 201 E. Main St., Rock Hill, SC, where we will be sampling the finest wine, scotch, bourbon, and beer.
Expect only the best as you cross the threshold from the 21st Century to the 1920s, with the opulence of the Courtroom’s fine wood paneling and chandeliers. Dance the night away with music by jazz trio, Take Three. Indulge in a gourmet cheese buffet, light hors d’oeuvres, and desserts. O’Darby’s Fine Wine & Spirits will have a variety of expert vendors on site.
At the party, O’Darby’s has donated for auction, a rare Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve 20yr Bourbon to benefit the Arts Council of York County.
By the end of the evening, you’ll not only know how to do the Charleston, you’ll be able to differentiate between single barrel whiskeys and unwheated bourbons. You’ll know if your wine is an aromatic that was aged in an oaken barrel or a steel barrel; and you’ll be an expert in telling the difference between an IPA and a stout.
Get your tickets early! Tickets are: $35 for members of the Arts Council; $40 for general public if purchased by January 1, 2014. Tickets are $50 for everyone after the first of January.
