Bethany Salisbury

Fine Arts Exhibition

Bethany Salisbury’s MFA thesis show is a series of non-traditional portraits of women centered on the mind-body connection regarding mental health, expressed through the animal and plant symbols used to communicate the many layers of their female experience. The works of art are primarily printmaking with some sculptural elements. Each portrait is based on interviews and research regarding difficulties faced by women due to bias in the healthcare community as well as the importance of animals and plants to the human narrative. Salisbury’s show will be displayed in a public gallery on the campus of Winthrop University. Supplies, framing, and artist fees are supported with this Small Grant
