2021 ACYC Dry Goods Design Competition

 

ELIGIBILITY

This is a national (US) call for entries. Artists, aged 18 and older, are eligible to enter. Only original work will be accepted. 


 

ARTIST BENEFITS

  • The finalist designs will be featured throughout ACYC’s social media streams, website, and newsletter

  • Winning designer will be awarded a $125 cash prize

  • Winning designer will receive one free t-shirt with your winning design and signature on it

  • The winning designer’s name will be credited in all promotional materials, press releases, social media posts, etc.

SUBMISSIONS

  • Artwork must be designed to appear on the front of a t-shirt and versatile enough to appear on mugs, tote bags, and other promotional materials.

  • Designs should relate to the arts and may include references to York County and municipalities within York County.

  • Arts Council of York County must be included within your design and should be at least 2” high. 

  • All artwork must be original and owned by the designer/artist submitting the work for consideration. Use of any materials that are not original to you, not in the public domain, or are not an Authorized Asset may result in disqualification.

  • The design must be unpublished, and cannot contain nudity, profanity, explicit, disparaging, or libelous content, trademarks, logos, or copyrighted works of any other person or business. Copyrighted designs and images will be disqualified. 

  • The design cannot contain commercial content that promotes any product(s) or service(s). 

  • Entrants may submit no more than three (3) original designs for consideration.

  • The file name must be clearly labeled with the artist's last name, first initial, and the design title.

  • The winning artist must be prepared to submit the file as vectors in .AI or .EPS format with a transparent background.

  • Artist must design the image to appear on a white or light, neutral background.

 

SUBMISSION FILE REQUIREMENTS

It’s best if you create your design in Illustrator or another professional design program. The artist with the winning design must be prepared to submit the design as an .AI or .EPS vector file with a transparent background.

Designs must be submitted in one of the following formats:

  • Images must be vector graphics

  • Accepted file types: .AI with transparent background, 

    • Alternate file types: .JPG, .PNG

  • Design must fit on a standard sized t-shirt

    • Recommended image size: 1500px by 1500px

    • Minimum image size: 200px by 200px

  • Maximum file size: 10MB

  • Maximum colors: 8 colors


 

HOW TO ENTER

  • Submissions to the Arts Council Swag Design Competition are only accepted through the Arts Council's online portal located at the bottom of this page.

  • An online form must be completed for each entry.

  • One design per entry.

  • Artwork must be created/designed by the individual submitting the designs.

  • Incomplete applications will be disqualified. If you fail to complete the form, give any false information or fail to reveal any pertinent information, you may be disqualified from the competition.

This fee is non-refundable, even if work is not accepted. All mailed or delivered payments must be received by the Arts Council of York County by Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at 5 PM.

NOTE: This is NOT a postmark deadline.


 

METHOD OF SELECTION

  • The staff of the Arts Council of York County will select the finalists for the online voting competition.

  • Entries will be posted to a dedicated photo album to the Arts Council’s Facebook page. The image that receives the most reactions (Like, Love, Wow, Sad, Angry), from January 1 - 14, will be named the winning design. Be sure to encourage your family, friends, and networks to participate!

  • The votes will be counted at 9 AM on January 15 to determine the winners. The image that receives the most votes. during the voting period will be named the winner.

WINNER

The winner will be notified by phone and/or email. 

 

WINNING DESIGN REQUIREMENTS

  • .AI or .EPS files (these are vector files). 

    • Preferred | .AI file with a transparent background

  • Graphics must be vector files

  • For best results, we recommend a resolution of at least 1500 x 1500 pixels.

  • Recommended resolution: 300 DPI (dots per inch)

  • NOT ACCEPTED | .JPG AND .PNG files, photographs, hand-drawn, or hand-painted pieces of art


 

SALES

The winning design will be sold on t-shirts, tote bags, mugs, and more through the Arts Council’s online storefront from February 1 - 21, 2021. Funds raised through the sales of these products will be used by the Arts Council of York County to create and support a thriving, diverse and vibrant arts community in York County. 

TERMS & CONDITIONS

  • The entries become the exclusive property of Arts Council of York County and will not be returned to entrants. Arts Council of York County has exclusive rights to the reproduction of winning design and the submitting artists relinquish all rights to such design for a period of 1 year (365 days) from the date the winner is announced. 

  • By entering the contest, competitors agree to allow images of their artwork to be published for marketing and promotional purposes directly related to the Arts Council of York County. 

  • By submitting a design to the Arts Council’s Swag Design Competition, artists agree that they will refrain from making any announcements (on social media, in the media, or otherwise) or telling anyone that their design has been selected to appear in the online competition until after the Arts Council publicly announces the designs. 

  • The winner will refrain from making announcements (on social media, in the media, or otherwise) or telling anyone that their design has been selected as the winner of the ACYC Swag Design Competition until after the Arts Council publicly announces the winner.

  • All proceeds from the sale of promotional materials will go to the Arts Council of York County.

  • The winning artist agrees to refrain from selling or reproducing the selected work until after January 15, 2022 without the written approval of Arts Council of York county


 

LIABILITY

  • The ACYC reserves the right to refuse any entry and to withdraw any work from the competition at its discretion. 

  • The ACYC reserves the right to use the submission photographs provided by artists for educational or publicity purposes.

  • The receipt of an entry in the ACYC swag design competition constitutes agreement by the artist with all conditions set forth in this prospectus.

By entering Arts Council events, you understand and agree that your photograph or image may be taken in any public place. You further grant permission and consent to the Arts Council of York County to use any such photograph, motion picture, or image for any reasonable purpose.

The Arts Council of York County is headquartered in Old Town Rock Hill. Downtown Rock Hill is a state-recognized Cultural District in South Carolina.
