All classes will be held at the Center for the Arts. Registration closes the Wednesday prior to each art class unless otherwise noted.

ART CLASSES FOR ADULTS

Participants will be introduced to the various technical elements and skills used when painting with water soluble oils. This medium can easily be used in conjunction with acrylics. Though our primary focus is to create using water soluble oils, we will also embrace the use of acrylic paint with these unique oils together in composition.

No theatre experience required! Participants in Drawing Scenery and Costumes for Theatre will learn the basics of drawing for the stage. Utilizing PrismaColor pencils, markers, and watercolors, the class will focus on the unique, expressive qualities of stage and costume design based on dramatic literature (The Play).

In this introduction to drawing concentrating on the fundamentals of composition, line, value, perspective, shape, and mark making, artists of all levels will gain skills to better their technical application of the mental image to paper. The class will gain experience in gesture drawing, drawing negative space, drawing positive space, perspective drawing, and curio scuro (light and shadow).

In Landscapes for Everyone, the primary objective is to introduce the artistic tools essential to painting landscapes, seascapes, beach scenes, and mountain-scapes. During the course of the class, we will be drawing what we see from a photograph or from an en plein air experience.
