R. Michael Phillips

R. Michael Phillips Studio

Visual Arts
R. Michael Phillips is a Clover, South Carolina based artist. Since 1972 he has been painting professionally while developing and honing his talent; experimenting in watercolor, egg tempera, oils, and other mediums along the way. As shown in the work displayed in this gallery, his work in both egg tempera and oils are visionary portrayals of the world around him. Most works are completed in his studio, but you may find him with his easel out and about along the back roads of York County. His first commission was a portrait of William Penn for the city of Philadelphia for the
bicentennial. Now his paintings are in private collections throughout the US. Michael’s work has been exhibited in juried shows and private galleries over the years—most recently The Mitchell Gallery, St. John’s College, Annapolis, Maryland and Gallery 120, Clover, SC.
