Welcome to the Arts Council's COVID COUTURE Face Mask Face Off! With the CDC recommending the use of facial coverings, we know the arts community is stepping out in style! Join the Arts Council in an online, tournament-style face mask face off to find out who is wearing the best in COVID COUTURE.

This is a national (US) call for entries. Artists, aged 18 and older, are eligible to enter the COVID COUTURE Face Mask Face Off. Only original work, created in the last two (2) years, and not shown previously with the Arts Council of York County will be accepted. The face masks (face coverings) must be functional and follow CDC Guidelines for effective protection against COVID-19.

Per the CDC, cloth face coverings should:

  • fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face

  • be secured with ties or ear loops. For the purposes of the COVID COUTURE Face Mask Face Off, facial coverings may be secured using other methods, but the mask must remain functional.

  • include multiple layers of fabric

  • allow for breathing without restriction

  • be able to be laundered and machine dried without damage or change to shape


Submissions to COVID COUTURE Face Mask Face off are only accepted through the Arts Council's online portal. An online form must be completed for each entry.

Accepted entries will not be delivered to the Arts Council for display. The Arts Council will create an online gallery using the images provided during the submission process. Entries will be posted as polls to the Arts Council's social media networks for judging by friends and fans. Be sure to encourage your networks to participate!

By entering the contest, competitors agree to allow images of their artwork to be published for marketing purposes. Entrants agree that any image submitted may be used for marketing and promotional purposes directly related to the Arts Council of York County. 

Note: Rights remain with artist.

ENTRY FEES | This is a free event. There are no fees to participate!


Submissions will be paired and placed into a tournament bracket. Round 1 will consist of randomly matched pairs. Each pair will be posted to the Arts Council's Facebook and Instagram pages in polls. One pair will be posted each day at 3 PM ET. Voting will be open for 24-hours. The votes will be tallied from each site and added to determine the winners. The image that receives the most votes in each pair will move on to the next round. The number of rounds will be determined by the number of entries received.


The ACYC reserves the right to refuse any entry and to withdraw any work from the exhibition at its discretion. The ACYC reserves the right to use the submission photographs provided by artists for educational or publicity purposes. The receipt of an entry in the COVID COUTURE Face Mask Face Off constitutes agreement by the artist with all conditions set forth in this prospectus.


Entries will not be available for sale through the Arts Council.

By entering Arts Council events, you understand and agree that your photograph or image may be taken in any public place. You further grant permission and consent to the Arts Council of York County to use any such photograph, motion picture, or image for any reasonable purpose.
