Join us as we celebrate the Community Performance Center being open for one year!  Thank you to everyone who supported this endeavor in its inaugural year - it was an exciting and wonderful 12 months!  Back by popular demand, the LEGENDS OF BEACH will be joining us again for this event!  More details to come soon!

The Arts Council of York County will hold its 32nd Annual Arts Celebration on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at 5:30pm at the Arts Council’s Community Performance Center, 249 E. Main Street, Rock Hill.   The evening is free and open to the public.
 
This celebration will include the announcement and presentation of:
* new Arts Council board members
* Ben Ardrey Volunteer Award
* Business and the Arts Award
* Long Family Scholarship (funded by Woman’s Club of Rock Hill Outreach Funds)
 
A reception will immediately follow, with appetizers by The Brandon House (York, SC) and special music by With Strings Attached, featuring Elda Franklin (viola), Jerry Helton (soloist-tenor) and Mary Ann Helton (piano).  
 
The public is invited to enjoy an evening of art, live music, shopping, and dining in Old Town Rock Hill.

Our inaugural Performance Series continues on Mother's Day with Memories of Motown!  In the 1960's, some of the most iconic names in music history were discovered in the Motor City of Detroit, better known as Motown.  Memories of Motown is a celebration of these timeless artists and their unforgettable music.  Bring your mom for a special Mother's Day trip down memory lane to enjoy these classic hits from one of the most beloved eras in music.

Join the Arts Council for live, toe-tapping bluegrass and mouth-watering BBQ!  Dan Huntley and Heath Sessions of SMOKE will be serving up blue cheese corn on the cob and BBQ with all the fixin’s in the park-like setting behind the Community Performance Center.  We’ll start with a more traditional sound from Hunter Holmes of the Mason Jar Drinkers accompanied by Stephen Crotts on the claw hammer banjo.  Then we will crank it up with the bluegrass folk rock sounds of Diamonds in the Rough.

The Arts Council of York County performance series will kick off 2010 with a rousing tribute to two legendary musicians of our time!  A tribute to Billy Joel and Elton John with entertainer Carl Rosen will be held on Saturday, January 16 at 8pm at the Community Performance Center, 249 E. Main Street, Rock Hill.
 
Keyboardist, singer and songwriter Carl Rosen is known for his nearly identical renditions of the greatest hits of Elton John and Billy Joel.  The self-taught New York native has been playing the piano since the age of 3 and was dubbed "the piano kid" growing up.
 
Tickets for this concert are $25 (general admission).  Please call the Arts Council office at 803.328.2787 to reserve tickets as there is limited seating.  Previous concerts at the Community Performance Center have sold out, so please purchase tickets early.
